Respite is a service designed especially for carers that provides substitute care for the person the carer looks after. Respite is a break from the responsibility of looking after someone. It may be for a few hours, a full day, overnight or a few weeks. Respite can be provided in the home of the person being cared for, to allow the carer to leave for a short time, or out-of-home, such as at a Centre.
Respite is a way of relieving the stress of being a carer and allowing the carer some time to take care of their own health and well-being.
